Many of us move through life at a distance from our own bodies—sensing them only when something hurts, or not sensing them at all. But the body is not merely a vehicle for the mind's activity. It's a living field of energy, sensation, and knowing, and it holds a direct path to some of the deepest questions of practice: What am I? What is this experience of being human? What would it mean to be free within it?
If you've sensed that your body has more to teach you than your mind has been willing to hear, this is your invitation. You will be guided through practices that move from the felt sense of the body into subtle energy, from subtle energy into stillness, and from stillness into insight—weaving together yoga, somatic inquiry, samādhi practice, and wisdom teachings drawn from the vipassanā lineage of southeast Asia.
Experience daily sitting and walking meditation, energy-body and somatic practices, and accessible yoga designed to open awareness of the subtle body and refine attention.
Everyone is welcome. No previous meditation, yoga, or somatic experience required. This retreat is silent except for teacher-led Q&A, small groups, or other practice meetings.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Joseph Goldstein will not be present on the land at the retreat. He will join via Zoom for one session total throughout the retreat.
